Louisianne Saint-Fleurant
Louisiane St. Fleurant was born in 1922 in Petit-Trou de Nippe, Haiti. St. Fleurant, famous as one of few accomplished female Haitian artists, is also the mother of two famous painters, Stevenson Magloire and Ramphis Magloire. One of the founding five of the Saint-Soleil School (and considered the godmother of the Saint-Soleil painters) she borrows little from other influences in Haitian art apart from Vodou. Her work is unique and has had an enormous influence on the evolution of art in Haiti. She is blind and no longer paints.
